First of all 73-87.com is a great web site. I am 47years old, Auto
Technician, ex NASCAR Fabricator, and super late model dirt track racer. I
enjoy building 73-87 model trucks, the body style is my favorite. I
started with a very clean 81 short bed, body was perfect no dents or rust.
The truck is powered by a ZZ502 big block crate engine, backed up by a built
TH350 transmission. I fabricated a 9 inch ford housing
using a Strange Engineering nodular iron case with Moser 31 spline axles and
3.50 gear W/ Posi. Front suspension has 2 inch drop spindles with 2 inch drop springs and a 1 3/8
Front sway bar. The rear suspension was totally removed, all brackets,
hangers, springs, and axle housing. I used S-10 82-93 front spring hangers, they bolt right on
under frame. The rear spring shackle is from 73-87 4WD Front axle, this
works out perfect. Leaf springs are from '75 ford LTD, pinion snubber is
'93 cobra mustang, rear sway bar is from '92 explorer, fabricated track bars.
Front wheels are Weld 15x6 w/ 215/70/15 Michelin Hydro Edge, rear are 15x15 w/
29x18.00/15 Mickey Thompson Street Radials. Truck hooks hard and is fast.
Paint is original color and very straight with hand painted pin stripes.
The interior has all N.O.S., with billet trim. Thank you for viewing my
truck, I enjoy looking at all your advertisements.
