Owner Comments:  My name is Stan Treharn, I am 68 and retired from a career in Mechanical Engineering.  I have been a rod and custom and truck guy from birth it seems.  I am originally from Youngstown Ohio, but have lived in Matthews North Carolina for the last 25 years.  I wrote to you before thanking you for continuing the 73-87 Site and for the how to articles.  Now I'm witting again to thank you for the Readers Rides page and to send you a picture of my '85.  This is my third 73-87.  My first was a '73 which I bought new, my second was a '78...both where long beds and I have always wanted a short bed, now I have one.  I rescued this truck out of the Junkyard and have owned it now for two years.  In this time I have sandblasted and painted the frame, and rebuilt the whole drive train from the engine to the rear end.  I have also done some miner bodywork and painted it Ocean Blue.  The interior is all new except for the door panels, they were in pretty good shape so we just had to clean them up.  I also have new glass except for the drivers door which was in very good shape.  I am presently  installing new gas tanks because my driver side tank sprung a leak, which of course I didn't see when I had it down to the frame so now I have the bed off for the second time.  Future plans (as soon as I can talk the wife into it) are a new set of wheels and tires, and maybe some dress up stuff for the engine and a cowl induction hood.
